welcome to cilento.
it’s lovely to have you here.
Perched 150 metres above the Mediterranean Sea, Quitisana, our magical retreat, is situated in the Cilento National Park in southern Italy. Our grounds, covering approximately 10,000 m², are home to 120 olive trees. Some of them are over 300 years old and bear the rare white olives. Your extra virgin olive oil comes from these very trees. We picked the olives ourselves, cold-pressed them and bottled the oil. It is fruity, delicately bitter and of the highest quality. With our olive oil, you receive an authentic piece of the region, which is considered an undiscovered Blue Zone and the birthplace of the Mediterranean diet. For a healthy, long and fulfilling life in equilibrio.

live in equilbrio.
Here in Cilento, you have more time. The mild climate, the sun, the sea and the wonderful people who live together and look out for one another create the perfect atmosphere for slowing down, bringing body, mind and soul into harmony, and learning to live in equilibrio. From Quitisana, you can look out over the historic town of Elea, where the famous Eleatic School was founded some 2,500 years ago. Its leading figure, the philosopher Parmenides, explored fundamental questions about life and formulated the powerful statement: ‘Being is, non-being is not.’
Where do I come from? What is real? What is illusion? These are questions that are highly relevant today. Grounded in the midst of nature and with this perspective, step back from the daily hustle and bustle, ready to look within and devote yourself to what really matters. We give you space and support you with coaching sessions and extraordinary experiences in nature and at historic sites. Whether it’s the olive harvest, the evening ritual at sunset by the sea, your speech in the ancient theatre of Parmenides, or a delicious Mediterranean dinner at Antonio’s. Here, you will find yourself – in equilibrio.

Cilento combines unspoilt nature, impressive history and a special quality of life. Designated a UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site, it is home to the ancient sites of Paestum and Velia (formerly Elea), the founding place of the Eleatic school. Here, 2,500 years ago, the philosopher Parmenides recognised that only what exists counts, not opinion or appearance.
Our municipality of Pollica is considered an undiscovered Blue Zone with an exceptionally high number of centenarians and was recognised by UNESCO in 2010 as the birthplace of the Mediterranean diet. Just a stone’s throw from Quitisana, nutritionist Ancel Keys, who scientifically shaped the Mediterranean diet, lived and conducted his research.
